Adders overcome spirited Newcastle Town

Definitely worth the entrance fee alone two good teams went head to head. The young Adders were straight out the traps looking hungry and found themselves 3 nil up after 12 crazy minutes where it looked like it was going to be double figures Charlie Williams scoring direct from a free kick, the workhorse Harry Roper made it 2-0 and a lovely sweeping move starting with the adders keeper which eventually ended with Louis John who was orchestrating the adders attack all night to cleverly square for Jacob Shilton to tap home. A lapse in concentration cost adders a goal to make it 3-1 - Shilton cashed in on a defensive cock up to make it 4-1 however the adders don’t like to do things easy giving a penalty away 5 mins before half time to make it 4-2. The worst possible start to the 2nd half uncertainty again allowed the Newcastle striker to go clear and lash home 4-3.

This is where you crumble or show character and we chose the later to manage the game well and deservedly come out on top with subs Hallam combining to play West in to cooly slot home 5-3. Manager Wayne Hadley had this to say “we knew looking at the FA cup heroics so far for Newcastle Town this season this was going to be a toughie and so it proved but we were good value for the win it was a real team effort but I have to say Williams John and Roper were exceptional all night, this result has taken us a point off top with a quick turnaround away to Lichfield City Monday evening 7.45pm ko “

“A few Thankyous from me personally the groundsman for getting the game on the pitch was superb, the squad of players the competition for shirts is really hotting up now with players coming back from injury the attitudes and impact from the subs was clear to see a real togetherness  the volunteers on the gate in the bar and videoing the game priceless and finally the Friendly Plaice chip shop for kindly donating our after match food again”
