Shilton scores dramatic last minute winner

The young adders have finally kick started the season with a more recognisable performance - from the get go we were at it, unfortunately Jack Collins pulled out the warm up with an ankle injury making way for a returning Henley Hadley to creep on the bench who came through the warm up unscathed. You could say it was a make shift forward line in centre half Jacob Shilton and Harry Roper but they epitomised our performance working tirelessly to upset the Sutton back line - all that energy we had been missing was there in abundance first half we were asking why we were not going in at half time 4 or 5 goals to the good. Jake Thornton opened the scoring on around the half hour mark a great corner from Katanda was headed home, the game turned on 40 mins with Suttons centre half receiving his marching orders however it seemed to spur Sutton on who counter attacked and equalised right on half time.

2nd half much of a muchness adders naturally with extra man having the lions share of the ball with great chances falling to Hallam and Fitzgerald it was looking like it was going to be a frustrating scoreline however on the 94th minute Jake Thornton showed the composure to find a great pass to Jacob Shilton who scored with aplomb the Snakepit erupted - seconds later the final whistle was heard. Manager Wayne Hadley said “ from 1-16 plus Jack Collins showing great support to his fellow teams after the heartbreak of pulling out were first class the first half the press the energy we showed is the Adders we know if it wasn’t for the opposing keeper making some great stops and the woodwork coming to there aid we should have been out of site, playing 10 men psychologically is difficult credit to Sutton who hung in there with a threat on the counter however we kept believing to the final whistle and got what I felt were our just rewards” up next Rushall Olympic next Thursday at home 7.30pm ko
